La bagarre
Description
Three years after his eponymous debut album, Guillaume Cantillon (formerly of Kaolin), under the name COURCHEVAL, has released LA BAGARRE, a deliberately provocative title that opens with twelve finely crafted songs.
The album paints a portrait of a man in love confronted with the passing years: the wear and tear on his relationship, the failures he has come to terms with, the pitfalls he has avoided. The narrative is intimate without being mawkish, with sensuality and romanticism finding their rightful place.
The production, both modern and timeless, is the result of a veritable territorial patchwork between Auvergne and Landes.
In his home studio, Guillaume records most of the instruments himself, like so many sonic selfies; at the Manoir de Léon (France), he immortalises the contributions of his travelling companions, Loïc Maurin on drums and Marceau Rannoux on bass. The mixes, entrusted to Osha, who comes from the urban world, create a unique encounter: French pop with sophisticated nuances and a rare depth of production.
LA BAGARRE is all about coolness and unstoppable melodies. Twelve solid tracks on a playlist designed to fit the vinyl format, with a break between side A and side B.
Give it a try, you'll love it.
