Tomorrow A Flower
Description
Muito Kaballa returns in force with a modern and refined sound on ‘Tomorrow A Flower’ for Batov Records, blending indie pop, soul, hip-hop, jazz, Brazilian rhythms and West African grooves. Initially a solo project by tenor saxophonist and composer Niklas Mündemann, Muito Kaballa has become an ensemble in its own right, based between Cologne and Berlin. Supported by BBC 6 Radio Music, the band is appreciated for its energetic concerts. ‘Tomorrow A Flower’ builds on the success of the acclaimed album ‘Like a River’, while moving away from the strong jazz influences of the previous album to embrace a more direct, contemporary and sophisticated pop sound. Still full of soul, and nods not only to African funk and hip-hop, but also to strong modern references, including electronic pop favourites Jungle By Night and cosmic groove merchants Khruangbin.
