Who still remembers what a mixtape really is? At a time when formats blur—where “projects” are crafted and marketed like albums, and “EPs” stretch beyond six tracks—Infinit' brings the focus back to a format at the very core of rap history.
Mr LE FAIRE, following 888—his official debut album released in early 2024 on Don Dada Records—is a 14-track collection recorded between August and October, then mixed live by his longtime DJ DJ Furio, arranged and sound-designed by producer JayJay, and hosted by legendary Jacky Brown.
Conceived almost as a single continuous piece, the mixtape captures a spontaneous, high-energy spirit. “I needed a break, I just wanted to go off with my friends,” Infinit’ explains. The rapper from the French Riviera finds here the perfect space for his sharp, athletic flow—rich in imagery—while bringing together an extensive cast of collaborators. Among them are members of the Don Dada / Saboteur circle, including Alpha Wann, Deen Burbigo, and OG L'Enf, alongside Veust, Soleil Noir, Maïro, H JeuneCrack, and newer voices such as Zequin and Limsa d'Aulnay.
For Infinit’, the golden era of mixtapes is tied to platforms like LiveMixtapes and DatPiff, which, from the mid-2000s to the early streaming era, shaped a generation through releases from Dipset, G-Unit, Max B, and Atlanta’s golden wave. “If you’re looking for me, I’m in A-Town,” he raps—a nod to that legacy. “I approached the mixtape like one long freestyle.”
And when it comes to freestyles, the host of Mr LE FAIRE knows exactly what that means. Beyond his status as one half of Neg' Marrons, Jacky Brown played a key role in shaping French rap culture through his iconic radio show Couvre-Feu on Skyrock (from 1999) and later on OKLM Radio (from 2016). A rite of passage for multiple generations of rappers—including Infinit’, who delivered a memorable freestyle there in January 2020.
