Description
In 2023, Cancre swept across the French rock scene with Tout s’efface, blending texts born in the shadows of the First World War with powerful riffs and dark, evocative prose.
Two years later, the Morlaix-based trio returns with a more accomplished second album. Still driven by raw poetry and a deeply inhabited voice, the band channels its intensity into a more refined production. Le Plongeon marks a turning point : a dive into more modern, immersive soundscapes.
The official arrival of drummer Florian Pardigon, already performing live with the band, brings new momentum. The first demos took shape on the Crozon peninsula during the depths of a Breton winter, the wind and cold deeply imprinting the album’s melancholic atmosphere.
To sharpen this evolution, Cancre teamed up with producer Nicolas Quéré (Feu ! Chatterton, Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave…). Guitars are polished, synths take center stage, and electronic textures enrich the rock aesthetic. Balancing rage and sensuality, tension and softness, this new opus affirms a bolder identity, ready to resonate just as powerfully on vinyl as on CD.
