With Simple Things, Wally Badarou, a synthesizer pioneer and versatile musician, finally brings to life his vision for the backing tracks of Colors Of Silence. Comprising six tracks, the album blends overdubs and vocals added to the original mixes, offering a subtle reinterpretation of pieces initially developed in 2001.
A synthesizer specialist and a key figure in the Balearic DJ sound of the 1980s, Badarou also made a mark on the international scene with the Compass Point All Stars, collaborating with Sly and Robbie, Grace Jones, Tom Tom Club, Mick Jagger, and Fela Kuti, and contributing to numerous iconic albums by Robert Palmer, Herbie Hancock, Talking Heads, and Miriam Makeba. The recording of Simple Things took place in two phases: the backing tracks were created in his Normandy studio in 2001, then Badarou refined melodies and lyrics at the end of 2023, before adding overdubs and vocals during the summer of 2024.
True to his approach, he demonstrates that sometimes the simplest things are the most extraordinary, delivering an album that showcases the full scope of his musical genius.
