Selenites, Selenites! (feat. Jimi Tenor Band) - Limited
Description
In 2025, to mark his 60th birthday, Finnish musician and composer Jimi Tenor releases Selenites, Selenites!, the first album by the Jimi Tenor Band. Recorded between Hamburg with producer Tobias Levin and the Kiikala Center of the Universe Studio Complex in Finland, the record marks a new chapter in the prolific career of an unclassifiable artist.
Since the 1990s, Tenor has stood out for his eclecticism, moving from the jazz-lounge and acid techno of his early days (Sähkö, Warp Records) to explorations more deeply rooted in afrobeat, spiritual jazz, and electronic music, collaborating with artists such as Tony Allen, the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra, and Kabukabu. A tireless multi-instrumentalist, he blends genres with a unique musical signature.
Born during the pandemic in Tenor’s kitchen, the Jimi Tenor Band brings together Eeti Nieminen, Heikki Tuhkanen, Ekow Alabi Savage, and Lauri Kallio. With numerous club and festival performances under their belt, the ensemble delivers eight tracks honed on stage, most of them recorded in a single take. The album, infused with Tenor’s signature cosmic imagination, radiates a captivating energy and includes a new collaboration with Ghanaian singer Florence Adooni on Shine All Night.
