DJ Quik is a West Coast hip-hop giant. With his fourth album, Rhythm-Al-Ism, he has created his masterpiece, a perfect hip-hop album. Released in 1998 on Profile, Rhythm-Al-Ism is Quik's most commercially successful album. “You'z A Ganxta” and “Hand in Hand” made the rounds on radio stations across the country, and less radio-friendly tracks like “Medley For A ‘V’” were blasting out of car radios. Combining his soulful, jazzy P-Funk/G-Funk rhythms with his effortlessly fluid flow, Rhythm-Al-Ism was the quintessential West Coast party. Slamming synths, bouncing bass, monstrously pounding drums and weird keys - this is acid party-rap at its finest, straight from the factory.
