Naya Beat Records presents Volume 2 of its critically acclaimed series. Where Volume 1 explored early 80s Balearic and disco, this new instalment uncovers forgotten gems from later in the decade, a time when South Asian music fused with acid house, New Beat, and dub across diasporic communities in London and New York.
Highlights include The Jets Orkhestra's organ-fuelled house romp 'X-290', the downtempo splendour of the Asha Bhosle-fronted West India Company, the hypnotic Mantra, and further scintillating cuts from Asha Puthli, Bappi Lahiri, and Kuljit Bhamra. A double album of never-before-reissued holy grails, cut to vinyl by Grammy-nominated Frank Merritt of The Carvery, London.
