Since launching Volume 1 in 2019 and releasing Volume 2 in 2022, Gangster Doodles has shaped the Gangster Music series into a unique sonic universe, an unfiltered blend of underground titans, unsung legends, and rising stars. Volume 3 is the largest yet, boasting a whopping 30 tracks spanning the entire spectrum of rap and beat culture.
This time around, the lineup is more eclectic than ever. From legendary pioneers like Lee Perry and Tommy Wright III to veteran producers like Mr. Scruff and Peanut Butter Wolf, the album pays homage to hip-hop's roots while exploring new territory. The selection also includes up-and-coming artists like Devin Morrison, Low Leaf, DJ Harrison, Quelle Chris, Homeboy Sandman, and Suzi Analogue, ensuring a blend of classic flavors and new-school innovations. The bubbling underground scene is also well represented, with artists like Raz Fresco, Atlanta's 645AR, and Pro Era's Chuck Strangers bringing their own unique energy.
From pioneering SoundCloud rappers like Pouya to transgender composer John Carroll Kirby, from Birmingham's Romderful to Chile's RVYO, the album embodies a truly global sonic landscape, proving once again that Gangster Doodles' ear for unearthing the most cutting-edge talent is unmatched.
As always, the cover art is a key piece of the puzzle. This time, Bootleg Garfield & Friends takes center stage, with the same playful irreverence that has characterized Gangster Doodles for years. Fans are encouraged to participate, remix, and make the cover art their own, true to the spirit of interactive creativity that has always driven the series.
