Two pure improvisations are interspersed with a composition (in two versions) by Keïta Janota and a composition by vibraphonist Martin Blouet, who was making his professional recording debut.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe cult track ‘John Coltrane’, composed by double bassist Bill Lee, Spike Lee’s father, is the only cover version on the album. The quartet offers a surprising, almost ‘ambient’ rendition, without the heavy rhythm section and epic solos found on other recordings.
