Toy Tonics’s ITALOMANIA Vol. 3 is a compilation dedicated to the new wave of Italian disco. Not Italo Disco, but a contemporary vision of Italian dance music.
Featuring 14 contemporary Italian producers, the compilation brings together organic disco, indie dance and pop house tracks sung in Italian. Every track was produced in 2024, highlighting a fresh generation of Italian dance music artists.
The compilation includes artists such as Riva Starr, Valentino Vivace, Mind Enterprises, cosmic disco pioneer Daniele Baldelli, as well as Paris-based Italian-language electro-pop duo Dov'è Liana.
The ITALOMANIA series was initiated by Kapote, producer, DJ, keyboardist and head of Toy Tonics. The project acts as a manifesto showcasing the current state of Italian disco culture today.
Rather than revisiting the nostalgic Italo Disco revival of recent years, ITALOMANIA focuses on a new generation combining Italian identity with contemporary dance culture. While 1980s Italo Disco with English lyrics has enjoyed a global comeback, this compilation celebrates modern Italian-language disco and pop-inspired dance music.
The project also reflects a broader cultural movement, with more artists across France, Switzerland and Germany now singing in Italian. It highlights Italy’s long-standing influence on entertainment, nightlife and dance music culture — from disco in the 1970s to pop music in the 1980s.
Featured Artists
Kymono
A jazz-funk band from Bologna blending influences from Kool & The Gang, Jamiroquai and Roy Ayers with the melodic sensibility of Italian songwriters such as Lucio Battisti and Lucio Dalla.
Mille Punti
An indie dance project from Milan combining post-punk guitar influences with disco grooves, creating catchy and playful dance tracks.
Bruno Bellissimo
Originally from the indie and rock scene, Bruno Bellissimo is a bassist, singer and producer now active in contemporary dance music. He also runs the Bologna-based label POLYAMORE.
Dov'è Liana
A Paris-based duo singing in Italian, known for their ironic and raw electro-pop sound. They have quickly become a phenomenon among younger Italian audiences.
Riva Starr
Born in Naples and based in London, Riva Starr has been one of Italy’s leading house producers since the 1990s, releasing music through labels including Defected Records.
Paul Older
Known for soulful disco and funky dance productions supported by DJs such as Folamour, Jamie Jones and DJ Tennis.
Sam Ruffillo
One of Toy Tonics’ key artists, blending leftfield disco, lo-fi house and Italian vocals into a distinctive modern style.
Fimiani
Part of Naples’ vibrant contemporary disco scene alongside artists such as Nu Genea and Manny Whodamanny.
Valentino Vivace
An Italian-Swiss artist combining 1980s Italo influences with modern house music and highly melodic songwriting.
Mind Enterprises
Dedicated to ironic and playful 1980s-inspired pop sounds, balancing humor, club music and catchy songwriting.
Daniele Baldelli & DJ Rocca
Two legendary figures from the Italian dance scene. Baldelli was one of the pioneers of Cosmic Disco and remains a foundational figure in Italian club culture.
Kapote’s music and Toy Tonics’ aesthetic have also received support from artists such as Moodymann, Justice and Laurent Garnier among many others.
