A project paying homage to sampling culture wouldn’t be complete without a hip-hop feature and few come more legendary than Black Star’s Talib Kweli, who provides a lyrical freestyle verse on ‘DEEP NOTE.’ Named in tribute to formative rap collective Mobb Deep, the track features a melancholic piano sample from Petter that plays out over the shuffling swing of Noah’s ride cymbal-sizzling drum rhythm to produce three-minutes of groove-based storytelling.
