Description
Far Out Recordings is reissuing Azymuth's debut album, previously released only on the Brazilian market. a landmark album in Brazilian music. Released in the summer of 1975, the album was a minor commercial success, selling 200,000 copies.

The opening track “Linha do Horizonte” was chosen for a TV series and went on to sell half a million copies, propelling Azymuth onto the Brazilian music scene and giving the album cult status. Azymuth - Jose Roberto Bertrami, Ivan Conti, and Alex Malheiros & Ariovaldo - formed in the late '60s, just as Os Mutantes released its first album. While Mutantes refined a psychedelic “Amazonian” version of Western pop music, Azymuth created a futuristic, electric interpretation of American jazz, also inspired by the Brazilian “swing” that Mutantes had exploited.
